Self-Reiki Chakra Balancing
A Complete Self-Treatment Guide
There are times when self-Reiki feels effortless and deeply connected, and other times when it feels scattered or unclear. Chakra balancing can be especially supportive during periods of emotional stress, transition, decision fatigue, or when your energy feels “off” but you cannot quite name why.
This self-Reiki chakra practice is designed to help you slow down, listen to your energy system, and respond with intention. It is not about forcing balance or fixing anything. It is about awareness, presence, and allowing Reiki to support your system in the way it needs most.
Time commitment:
15–40 minutes, depending on how much time you spend with each chakra.
Opening Your Session
Begin by finding a comfortable seated or lying position where you will not be disturbed. Take three slow, deep breaths to settle your body and nervous system.
Invoke all of your Reiki symbols into your palms, allowing their energy to activate. Bring your thumbs gently to your third eye and call in your angels, guides, and highest healing support. Then bring your hands to your heart center and set a clear intention for your session.
Your intention may be simple, such as:
“I intend to bring my chakras into balance for my highest good,”
or something more specific based on what you are experiencing today.
The Initial Energy Scan
Using your non-dominant hand, often called your receiving hand, slowly scan each chakra from the root to the crown. Hold your palm approximately two to four inches above each energy center and notice what you sense.
You may experience temperature changes, tingling, heaviness, spaciousness, or an intuitive knowing. Some chakras may feel smooth and flowing, while others may feel dense, dull, or sluggish.
You may journal what you notice at each chakra, or simply make a few mental notes. Even one or two words per chakra is enough. This initial scan creates a baseline for your session and honors the information your body and energy field are already sharing.
Beaming Reiki to Each Chakra
Begin your Reiki treatment by working with the seven main chakras, starting at the root and moving upward.
For each chakra, use the “aura bubble” technique. Place your hands on either side of the chakra, as if you are gently holding a sphere of light. Beam Reiki into this energetic space surrounding the chakra.
As you work, visualize the chakra’s corresponding color. You may sense the chakra warming, softening, spinning, expanding, or gently pulsing with your breath. Hold the intention that this chakra receives exactly what it needs in this moment.
Remain with each chakra for approximately two to three minutes, or until you feel a shift, a sense of completion, or intuitive guidance to move on.
Rescanning and Intuitive Check-In
Once all seven chakras have received Reiki, repeat your scan using your non-dominant hand. Notice any changes from your initial assessment. The energy may feel smoother, more balanced, or more cohesive.
Now ask your intuitive or higher self:
“Are there any chakras that would like additional Reiki?”
Pay attention to sensations, subtle pulls, warmth, tingling, or inner knowing. You may feel drawn to return to a specific area. You can also rescan while holding this question, allowing your hand to pause naturally where more support is needed.
Trust what you receive and offer Reiki to that chakra for a few additional minutes.
Closing Your Session
When your session feels complete, bring your hands to your heart center. Offer gratitude to your guides, the Reiki energy, and your own inner wisdom. Take three deep breaths and gently transition back into your day.
If strong emotions arise at any point, pause, ground yourself, and offer compassion. Reach out for appropriate support if needed.
